About CDKL5

CDKL5:

CDKL5 is a rare X-linked genetic disorder that results in early severe neuro-developmental impairment. CDKL5 stands for cyclin-dependent kinase-like 5, and is located on the X chromosome. The X chromosome is one of the sex chromosomes, females have two X’s and males have one X and one Y chromosome. The CDKL5 gene provides instructions for making a protein that is essential for normal brain development.

Treatment Approaches:

The main treatment will be improving the child’s muscle tone, chest physiotherapy and breathing exercises to avoid pulmonary disease.
Neuro Respiratory techniques will improve overall development of the physiological aspects of the child and Neuro Developmental Therapy (NDT) will improve gross motor functions.
Spinal stimulation techniques to improve the flow of cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF). This technique will improve the overall Neuronal regeneration.
